FOOD SUPPLEMENT OMEGA-3

Product description

  • Does not contain any animal products (e.g. fish oils) nor is the capsule shell of animal origin (e.g. fish gelatine). Contains essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), extracted from Schizochytrium sp. microalgae. These fatty acids are formed by the organism’s metabolism from alpha-linolenic acid. Today’s diet is often too low in alpha-linolenic acid (vitamin F).

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)

  • DHA and EPA are extracted from Schizochytrium sp. algae, a type of oceanic microalgae, which are grown in breeding tanks and therefore free of harmful environmental toxins.
  • DHA and EPA are formed inside the organism from alpha-linolenic acid, a type of fatty acid, through a series of metabolic steps. Metabolisation of such fatty acids is extremely slow. In many people, it is disrupted or even shut down entirely, due in particular to too many omega-6 fatty acids in our diet. DHA fulfils many important functions for generating neural cell membranes and occurs in the brain in highly concentrated form. EPA forms cardioprotective hormones (leukotrienes and thromboxanes).

Further explanations of the ingredients:

Aqua:
Water. It accounts for around 65% of the weight of the human body and is therefore of fundamental importance for bodily functions, including those of the skin. In many cosmetic products (aqueous solutions, cleansers, emulsions), water is the ingredient with the largest proportion of the formulation in terms of quantity and forms the basis of the aqueous phase in emulsions. Water is a good solvent for polar (hydrophilic) substances such as alcohols, water-soluble vitamins or salts. For use in cosmetic products, the water used is generally pre-treated to remove microorganisms that could lead to spoilage of the product or dissolved salts that may impair the stability of emulsions or gels (sterilization and desalination).
